With or without wash balls, there
are many ways to make laundry easier, faster and time wise. Here are some useful
tips for you.
- Use low temperature settings and reduce thermostat on your water heater. Adjusting your thermostat at 120 and using warm or cold water instead of hot in wash cycles will let you save some energy. Pre-soak heavily soiled clothes in water with detergents or wash balls before turning on the wash cycle. Use cold water when rinsing.
- Use the washing machine’s maximum load capacity. Washing one large load of clothes instead 2 loads on low or medium setting will save more energy,
- Save water and detergent by using the suds-saving feature on your washing machine.
- For heavily stained clothes, remove stain as early as possible. When removing stain, remove it from the back of the garment. But before doing so, test your stain removal method, whether effective or not, on hidden spots of your soiled clothes.
- For maintaining the shades of bright and dark-colored clothes, turn them inside out and set your washing machine on coolest temperature.
- Use a cup of vinegar in the rinse cycle and a little amount on wash cycles to make clothes soft. It can also be used for soaking clothes with food stains. Baking soda is another great addition to wash or rinse cycles for an extra fragrant boost.
- When removing blood stains, dampen the stained spot first with hydrogen peroxide and then rinse with cold water.
- To save electricity, hang your washed clothes under the heat of the sun to dry instead of using the dryer.
- Clean your dryer and wash filters after every use. Doing so will maintain a good dryer performance and make your washing machine last longer.
